Interesting post Neil, thanks.

I just wanted to build a little bit more on Seth's idea of 'Slow Media' with a great example I've got in mind.

XXI (read 21) and 6mois (read 6months) are 2 very unique French news magazines. XXI is published quarterly for 5 years now and 6months is a biannual publication. Publishing less often gives the journalists the time to properly reflect back on news stories and therefore the ability to offer a much stronger analysis and understanding of situations. Both magazines are ads-free (!), are only sold in bookshops – especially independent ones – or by subscription. 

I'm not entirely sure as I don't have any figures to back this up, but they are very profitable news mags, as people are keen on paying for better quality content with which they can engage 'slowly', at their own pace. XXI costs 15,50€ and 6mois costs 25,50€ (per issue).
