Think Tank Nominations - September 08

ThinktankPOTM

I got some really positive feedback when I suggested resurrecting a 'post of the month' so here it is - a call for nominations for the inaugral one. To remind you, this is about recognising the good writing, the great thinking, the best posts from the past month. You can nominate your own favourites by leaving a comment on this post and a link to the post you're nominating.

I'm not being restrictive about what to define as worth nominating - as long as it's broadly concerning the subjects that are discussed every day in the 'plannersphere' (advertising, communications, digital, planning, design, culture, media et al) - if you think it is one of the best things you have read in the past month put it forward. You can nominate more than one if you wish - the only set criteria are that you can't nominate one of your own posts, and the post you are nominating must have run in the month of September.

Nominations will close in a few days, following which I will post a short-list and open up voting via a poll for a week or so, the aim being that by the middle of the month we have a winner, which I'll announce via a post on this blog. I'll also twitter the odd reminder/announcement (you can follow me here).

If there are too many nominations or any other issues that arise I will use my own discretion (sorry, but it is my blog). The winner can bask in the reflected glory and respect of their peers, and 'wear' the Think Tank Post of the Month visual (I'll post a resized version) on their blog for the duration of their reign should they wish.

To get us started. I have picked out 4 of my own favourite posts which I've detailed below. I have to say, it was enormously difficult restricting my choice of favourites to a small number but here's the ones I did pick:

Punk Planning: The Mother of all Market Meltdowns from Charles. "Rich people go slowly".

Hurt, Failure And The Start Being More Fun Than The End from Northern Planner. "Smell the flowers while you can."

Gestures and Communication from Dino. On combining grand gestures with small.

Ban Leadership from Matt. "Head off somewhere and see who comes with you."

So, remember that this is about giving recognition and creating something useful so please take the trouble to nominate your own favourites in the comments below. Thanks.
