But, don't you think the rules were a bit different back then? Maybe not the rules - ok - the people. I mean, people didn't go to university to study how to manage and consolidate mediocrity back then did they?

Agree with The Kaiser. Don't we beat risk taking out of decision makers these days? And how many bands get any creative input around their identity now? Or their music for that matter.
Can't we bring back some creativity? The blandness is choking me.
