Ahh I could tell you'd been reading New Scientist even before I got to the link :D

Interesting article, even for a grapheme-colour synaesthete such as myself. I've got a blog about synaesthesia (http://colourfulanguage.wordpress.com/) if you want to read a subjective account, I am still trying to figure out what it is myself even though I've had it for 22 years.
